Terms
The terms you buy under. Nothing here takes away a right the law gives you — where the two disagree, the law wins.
Who you're buying from
Build a Binder, trading at buildabinder.co.uk. Contact us at info@buildabinder.co.uk.
How an order is made
Adding something to your basket and paying is an offer to buy. The contract between us starts when we email to confirm your order. If we can’t make or send what you’ve ordered — it’s out of stock, or the artwork isn’t something we can print — we’ll tell you and refund you in full.
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. We try hard to keep prices and product details right; if something is obviously wrong — a price that is clearly a mistake — we’ll contact you before making your order rather than hold you to it.
Your artwork
This is the important one. When you send us a design to put on a binder, you’re confirming that you have the right to use it.
Plenty of what people send is someone else’s — characters, logos, photographs, artwork from a card. We make what we’re asked to make and we don’t police it, but the responsibility for having permission is yours, not ours. If a rights holder comes after us over something you supplied, you agree to cover what that costs us.
We may refuse any design, and we don’t have to say why. In practice we’ll refuse anything illegal, anything hateful, and anything we think will get us into trouble. If we refuse yours after you’ve paid, you get a full refund.
You keep the rights to your own artwork. We use it to make your order and nothing else — we won’t put it in our gallery or our advertising unless you say we can.
What a decorated binder will look like
The on-screen preview is a guide, not a photograph of the finished thing. Engraving, UV printing and foil all behave differently on leather, and colours on your screen aren’t colours on a binder. Fine detail in a busy photograph will come out softer than it looks on a monitor.
We’ll always make what you sent to the best of our ability. A finished item that differs from the preview in these ordinary ways isn’t a fault — but if it’s genuinely not what you ordered, that is, and the next section applies.
Cancelling, and returns
Anything plain and unused can come back within 14 days of arriving for a full refund, which is your right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Anything carrying your design is made to your specification, and those same regulations exempt personalised goods from that right. Once we’ve started making it, it can’t be cancelled or returned because you’ve changed your mind.
That doesn’t affect your rights if something is faulty, not as described, or not what you ordered. The returns page sets out how all of that works in practice.
Delivery
Covered on the delivery page. Goods are your responsibility once they’re delivered to the address you gave; until then any loss or damage in transit is ours to sort out.
Where we stand on liability
If we get it wrong, we’ll put it right — repair, replace or refund. What we won’t cover is loss beyond that: profits you expected to make, an event you missed, or the value of cards you stored in one of our binders.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says can’t be limited. Your statutory rights are untouched.
If something goes wrong between us
Email us first — most things are a misunderstanding and get sorted in a message or two. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there deal with any dispute.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
